2004 Stoddard
County Relay for Life
Even though it was a first effort,
Stoddard County's 2004 inaugural Relay For Life was a stupendous
success. The event raised over $83,000. Our goal was
$30,000.
Of the money that came in, the top
individual fundraiser was Karen Pippins, who brought in 1,495.
Second place went to Harold Lemons, with $1,110 while third place
belonged to Wendy Ott and her $800.90.
Team top money-raising honors went to
Hopewell Baptist Church for $4,552.25, followed by Second General
Baptist Church with $4,522.05 and First Baptist Church with
$3,076.45. St. Joe Baptist Church had two teams, whose combined
total $1,912 topped all multi-team organizations.
The top corporate team in terms of money
raised was Missouri Southern Healthcare, with $3,162.90 Second place
went to the Delta News-Citizen with $3,056.
The money raised goes into cancer
research, development of treatments and funding of various types of
prosthetic items for cancer patients. In addition, some of the money
helps fund treatment and other support activities of patients unable
to afford the often high costs of such treatment and activities. |
